
Four men who posing as employees of the checkpoint, having taken money and jewelry from the old people, they were arrested on the Athens-Patra highway, on the height of Elefsinaby the Patras Police.
As for the chronology of the case, yesterday morning the four defendants came to the man’s house in Patras and, posing as employees of the checkpoint, withdrew the amount of 8,500 euros.
Immediately after this, a police operation was organized, and the Patras police noticed the defendants driving a car at a height Elefsina. During a subsequent search of both the detainee and the car, the police found the stolen sum of 8,500 euros.
According to the police, an investigation by Patras Security revealed that the three arrested had committed two more thefts and one robbery in Achaia and Volos, receiving a total of 6,000 euros.
As regards the conduct of the defendants, according to the police, first by renting cars from a rental company in Attica, then they found mostly elderly people, broke into their homes in parts of Attica and, pretending to be checkpoint officers, took money and jewelry from them using the recruitment method.
The detainees were taken to Prosecutor of First Instance of Patraswhile police investigations are ongoing for their possible involvement in other similar crimes.
