The Athens State Orchestra celebrates the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Pontic Genocide with symphonic works by Greek composers. Principal musician Vladimiros Simeonidis will conduct Kotsari by Amarandos Amarantidis, Pirrion by composer Christos Papageorgiou, and Pontic lyre virtuoso Matteos Tsakhuridis will present Ilias Papadopoulos’ Concerto for Pontic Lyre and Orchestra. Concert Hall, Christos Lambrakis Hall, at 21.00.

The personal exhibition of paintings by Stefanos Zanni (photo) will run until June 10. As art historian Louise Karapidakis, who curated the exhibition, notes, “he captures images of the countryside with representative clarity and discreet abstraction in keeping with his personal visual sensibility.” Athens Art Gallery, Glykonos 4. The first Athens Pop Underground Fest And Convention kicks off today with a free meet and greet at the Tiki Bar and concerts at the Half Note Jazz Club. In Alsos-Peristeriou the book fair starts for the second year. In addition to new editions, visitors will have the opportunity to donate books that they do not need, but in good condition, and together with the Greek Cultural Foundation, create a library of the Greek community in Georgia. The French Birds in Row, who characterize their music as experiments on torn-carpet punk/hardcore, are performing for the first time in Greece and at Temple Athens, Iakhou 17, at 20.30.
