“I think Romania lacks a PV plant,” said George Niculescu, president of ANRE.
“I believe that Romania has the advantage of being located in a strategic area in such a way that if we have such investments, we will serve not only the domestic market and the domestic demand for equipment for such investments, but also the regional market,” – he said during the 2023 Romanian Solar Summit.
He said he had seen ANRE’s application for a permit to build, the largest solar farm to date, approximately 1,050 MW.
“1050 MW, one photovoltaic park, very large investments. This means an installed capacity greater than the Cernavoda reactor to be built in Romania,” he said.
According to Nuclearelectrica, each reactor has an installed capacity of 700 MW.
“I believe that it is very important for Romania to have a photovoltaic panel factory that will serve the market here,” said the head of ANRE.
