Magistrates at the Court of Appeal in Bucharest on Wednesday allowed Costin Minka’s appeal to set aside the final judgment of May 2022 and found that the two crimes he was charged with are intentional infliction of bodily harm and failure to take legal health and safety measures at work – the facts have been established, reports Agerpres. Therefore, the sentences imposed on him for two crimes – 2 years and 6 months of imprisonment, respectively 2 years of imprisonment, were cancelled.

In practice, Kostin Minku also benefited from the decisions of the Constitutional Court and the Supreme Court regarding the statute of limitations.

Kostin Minku was sentenced to 6 and a half years in prison for involuntary manslaughter, and a new death warrant was issued in connection with this.

The decision is final.

Piedone and Others Convicted in Class Action, Unusual Attacks to Avoid Jail Time

And other participants in the case filed extraordinary appeals to avoid sentences.

Thus, a trial was opened on the role of the supreme court, the object of which is a cassation appeal, in which the former mayor of Sector 4 Cristian Popescu-Piedone, the other two owners of the club and the firefighters George Matei and Antonina Radu are challenging the sentences obtained in the materials affairs.

  • George Matei and Antonina Radu, two firefighters from the Bucharest Emergency Inspection (ISU), who inspected the Colectiv club without taking legal action to comply with PSI rules, – 8 years and 8 months. In addition, the two firefighters will no longer have the right to hold positions in the IGSU and subordinate units, as well as the right to hold management positions in a legal entity under public law for 5 years after leaving prison.
  • Aurelia Yofchiu, head of the City Hall’s Commercial Permits Service, was acquitted. At the first instance, she was sentenced to 8 years of imprisonment
  • Larisa Luminitsa Ganya, senior adviser – acquitted. In the first instance, he received 7 years of imprisonment
  • Ramona Sandra Motzok, Senior Officer, acquitted. He received 3 years of conditional imprisonment and 90 days of community service.

Antonina Radu fled Romania before the verdict, staying in the Republic of Moldova, from where the Romanian authorities unsuccessfully tried to extradite her. The rest of those sentenced to be shot are in the colonies.
