Coalition leaders are due to meet on Wednesday afternoon to discuss the structure of the future government. PSD and PNL managed to reach a consensus on the change of the protocol and the concession of some ministries, but there are still problems in the Coalition. UDMR is waiting for the first discussion with PSD and PNL leaders regarding the portfolios.

After PSD and PNL meetings, Marcel Čolaku and Nicolae Chuke got agreement from the leaders of the territory to change the protocol. At the official level, the presidents of the two parties announced that in the future the Government will have fewer ministries and state secretaries.

Unofficially, it will be 16 ministries instead of 18 after the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Tourism is merged with the Ministry of Economy, and the Ministry of Youth and Sports “absorbs” the Ministry of Family.

According to HotNews.ro’s sources, the PSD will retain the coveted Ministry of Transport, while the PNL will head the Ministry of European Funds. In addition, finance and the general secretariat of the government will go to the liberals, and the social democrats will receive the position of vice prime minister and head of the Agency for Monitoring and Evaluation of State Enterprises (AMEPIP). ), an agency that will monitor and control the entire management of the companies.

In the context of reducing portfolios in the Government, the UDMR will lose the Ministry of Youth and Sports, which is currently headed by Eduard Novak. The Liberals also want the Ministry of the Environment (which is currently headed by the UDMR) and don’t want to take a step back with the risk of the Union leaving the government.

“The weight of the parties in the Government is stipulated somewhere in the protocol, which is signed by the three parties, and in the UDMR it is 20%. Cannot have three ministries for 20% interest in the Government. Realistically speaking, the position of the vice-prime minister and the minister’s portfolio are according to their representation, in the conditions where the portfolios are currently being reduced,” the PNL leader explained.

UDMR sits down at the negotiating table

On the other hand, compared to last week, when the UDMR threatened to leave the government, these days the reaction of the leaders of the Union has been softened. They have avoided making public threatening statements and seem ready to sit down at the negotiating table.

  • Tensions in the coalition: Chuke and Cholaku talk about “negotiations”. UDMR remains in custody / Kelemen: I conclude that the protocol will be followed

The leader of UDMR deputies, Choma Botond, said on Tuesday that, in principle, UDMR representatives agree to hold a sit-down, punctual discussion at a meeting of ministries during negotiations on the formation of a new executive power. Regarding the possible exit from the government, he showed that “they do not want to leave this government.”

And Regional Development Minister Ceke Attila said the UDMR is ready to discuss “reducing the number of state secretaries and, obviously, the structure of the government.”

Where do the new negotiations begin – the scheme of the Cholak government

Coalition leaders Marcel Cholaku, Nicolae Chuke and Kelemen Hunor are due to meet on Wednesday after a government meeting to discuss the division of functions. The three leaders come out of the canvas already outlined these days. According to the latest information, Mihai Tudose would once again refuse to be part of the future government, and the Ministry of Economy, which will take over the duties of the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Tourism, could remain with the PNL.
