
Daniil Medvedev reached the quarterfinals of the “ATP 1000” tournament in Rome, winning in the 1/8 finals against the German Alexander Zverev (22 ATP) with a score of 6-2, 7-6(3).

Thanks to a remarkable run in 2023, the tournament’s third favorite quickly won the first set, dropping only two games.
In the second set, Zverev was much more aggressive, leading in three straight sets and managing to reach a tiebreak, where the Russian easily prevailed, 7-3.
The game lasted one hour and 57 minutes.
Danilo Medvedev (3 ATP), who won tournaments in Rotterdam, Doha, Dubai and Miami this year, will meet the German Yannick Hanfmann (101 ATP) in the quarterfinals.
The Rome Masters takes place from May 10 to 21 on clay, is part of the ATP 1000 category, has a total prize money of €7,705,780, Novak Djokovic is the reigning champion and Rafael Nadal holds the record for titles at the Italian Forum (10 ).
