Tula and the rest of the Orange family are back on the big screen with a new adventure set not in America but in Greece.

The first official trailer for the upcoming movieGreek wedding 3A movie has just been released (My Big Big Greek Wedding 3) which follows the family’s journey to meet Gus Orange’s friends and cousins.

“A lot has happened since I got married. My father passed away and his last wish was that we visit the Greek village where he grew up and reconnect with our roots. So we will have a reunion,” says Tula in a short video. So, we watch her relatives pack their bags and board the plane.

In addition to the main role, the Greek-Canadian Nia Vardalos he wrote the screenplay for the third film and became a director for the first time. Along with Vardalos, John Corbett (Ian), Elena Kamburi (Paris), Louis Mandylor (Nikos), Maria Vakratsis (Aunt Frida), Andrea Martin, Gia Karidis (Niki), Lainie Kazan (Maria) are featured in the film.

Greek Wedding premiered in 2002 and became the highest-grossing romantic comedy of all time, grossing $368 million worldwide. In 2016, a sequel was released that did not have the same success as the first film. It grossed $90 million worldwide.

The first film was based on a play by Vardalos in which she starred and then evolved into one of the most classic rom-coms. The story was as follows: a young Greek-American woman, Photoula (Tula) Orange, falls in love with Ian Miller, who is not Greek, and this provokes a reaction from her extended family. Despite this, Tula decides to marry him. While planning the wedding, they try to convince the Orange family to accept Ian and the upcoming wedding.

The sequel follows Tula’s parents Gus and Maria, who learn that 50 years ago the priest didn’t sign the couple’s marriage certificate.

“Greek Wedding 3”, most of which was filmed in Corfu and Athens, is dedicated to actor Michael Constantine (Gus Orange), who died in August 2021.

In the production – among others – we meet Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson and Gary Goetzman again. The film is expected to release in September 2023.
