OUR Vaso Triga is creative which gave birth to its own universe, recognizable with all the inherent similarities of a kind of Mediterranean expressionism. In her new exhibition at the Iris Marisa Fasianos Gallery in Pagrati (Antinoros 12, do 3/6), Vaso Triga presents the works of the past three years, the canvases and ceramics with which she has cultivated an expanded artistic identity in recent years. In this cohabitation drawing And ceramics the thread that connects her search for color, conceptual background and cosmological search is clear. The world of Vasos Triga is based on flow, light, happiness as desire, expectation and correctness.
In the works presented at this exhibition, we will meet motifs familiar to her: Van Gogh’s gold, Matisse’s blue, whirlpools and spirals in works ascending to the cellular principle, a monochromatic counterpart in flashes of light, oases of the spirit. The exhibition is called “Oasis”. More than excavations in the meadows of the subconscious, the artist’s works glorify life. They offer a holistic, sensory experience. Going even further, Vaso Triga tries to create even more abstract compositions, as in her large-scale work “Life” (2021), along with her absolute and recognizable individuality, as in the work “Oasis” (2023). In the diptych with pavilions (also her theme), the colorful pavilion converses with black and white, the compositions contain slogans, hidden figures and comments on urban culture.
More than excavations in the meadows of the subconscious, the artist’s works glorify life.
But, this painting, with its retreat into absolutely expressionistic compositions such as cages and oases, among dense explosions of colors and forms, merges with its hand in the enumerated ceramics. There is a conversation between clay and canvas.
Vaso Triga produces large double-use ceramic vases (or flower pots) (upside down they become plates or fruit vases), produces individual series of ceramics of the appropriate shape and purpose, and manufactures products ideal for table setting. In her ceramics, she celebrates this ancient art and connects it with the ceramics of modernism that flourished in the Mediterranean. Memories of the French Riviera, Malaga, Cyclades, Italy… Whirlpools of colors. Pottery (like most of her paintings) is imprinted, and on internal or invisible surfaces.
This is the world that was born as a result of the primary big bang. And which constantly radiates light, color, water, glossy darkness and golden sun. Vaso Triga, working feverishly, with great hand and design, is now sharing a new crop as a recapitulation and springboard.
