Iryna Begu left the WTA 1000 tournament in Rome in the second round, our athlete lost to China’s Xia Wang, who is ranked 75th in the world. The Asian won in two sets with a score of 6-4, 7-5. The game lasted one hour and 48 minutes.

There were only three breaks in the first set, and the difference was Iryna’s serve. The Asian won after coming back to 5-4 and handed the set in her favor.

Begu had her chances in the second set, in which our athlete led 5-3 at one point. In addition, with the score 5-4 in her favor, Iryna also missed two set balls.

Wang came back to close out the set (and the match) after a very good four-game streak (7-5).

Seeded at number 31, Iryna had a bye in the first round, which was the first match at the Foro Italico.

WTA Rome takes place from May 9 to 20 on the clay in the Foro Italico complex. His total prize money is $3,572,618 and is in the “WTA 1000” category. Iga Svyatek became the champion of the last two competitions.
