Environment Ministry Tanchos Barna responded on Tuesday to the UDMR’s accusation that the PNL wants to take over the environment ministry during the rotation of prime ministers: “My position is a minister for four years.”
UDMR MP leader Choma Botond said on Monday that his party was considering leaving the government if it lost the environment ministry to the PNL, adding that Hungarian leaders only learned of the intention yesterday.
Answering a question on Tuesday at a press conference about the statement of the leader of UDMR deputies, the Minister of Ecology said that “discussions are discussions.”
- “I have been a minister for four years. This is how we entered 2020, nothing has changed since December.
- Discussions are discussions, information about sources is information about sources.
- Currently, the circular in its signed form does not concern us, and by the end of the month, all unclear points will definitely be clarified.
- We took over these ministries, including the Ministry of Environment, but not only, and the Ministry of Development and the Ministry of Sports, we took over a four-year mandate to implement and implement programs, to shape public policy for the benefit of citizens. As for us, until something changes, we will do our work,” said Tanchos Barna.
When asked whether the UDMR is considering the possibility of leaving the government in case of the loss of some ministries, the Minister of Ecology said that he could not discuss whether or not.
- “At the moment, there is no such specific request, a decision from this point of view. We see. Everything will become clear this week or next week.
- All options are on the table, and for rotation, if it comes to another discussion, maybe we will restart the discussions from scratch,” the Minister of Ecology added.
At the end of April, UDMR president Kelemen Hunor said that his formation wants to remain in the government after the change of prime minister, recalling that it entered the government in 2020, in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and numerous urgent problems.
His comments came after the UDMR ceded its seats in the ANRE leadership to the PSD and the PNL, causing scandal in the governing coalition.
