Theatrical performances for children, interactive workshops and exhibitions are part of the program of the second weekend of the event “Open Streets – Bucharest, City Promenade”. The route on Calea Victoriei will be opened for pedestrians only on Sundays.

“Open Streets” program in Bucharest, May 7

As reported in the capital’s mayor’s office, in the area of ​​the National History Museum of Romania, the Ion Kriang Theater invites children on Sunday, from 11:00 a.m., to an interactive workshop – a musical performance. In the same area, from 18.00 the actors of the “Masks” theater will show the “Clowns” show.

Near the National Art Museum of Romania, from 18:00, children will be able to see the theatrical performance “Motanul Incalţat” by the Șăndărică Theater.

From Friday to June 5, the 66th annual international exhibition “World Press Photo” will be held on University Square. The exhibition includes 120 photographs that capture important events from around the world: from the war in Ukraine and its impact on people to the consequences of the climate crisis and protests around the world.

Bucharesters will also be able to visit the thematic exhibitions of the Bucharest Museum in the Filipescu Cesiano House from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. These are the permanent exhibitions “Museum of the ages – from childhood to old age” and “Beside the saints. Frescoes of the Vaqueresti monastery after 40 years”, as well as about the thematic exhibition “The history of the slums of the church. Saint Nicholas-Udrikani”.

Road restrictions

On Sunday, a number of road restrictions will be introduced in the center of the capital.

Thus, it will be allowed to cross Calea Victoriei on Strada Sevastopol, Strada Gheorghe Manu, Boulevard Dacia, Strada Ion Câmpineanu, Boulevard Regina Elisabeta, Strada Ştirbei Vodă between Calea Victoriei and Dem. I. Dobrescu. Bucharest Transport Company traffic will be rerouted.

Residents will be allowed access to their homes as well as business units in the area according to the signs temporarily installed during the restrictions on the following streets: Strada Frumoasă between Strada Sevastopol and Calea Victoriei, Strada Gina Patrichi between Bulevardul Lascăr Catargiu and Calea Victoriei, Calea Griviţei between Strada Constantin Budişteanu and Calea Victoriei, indicating that residents’ vehicular access will be redirected to the alley in front of Štirbey Palace and then to Banului Street.

Traffic on Calea Victoria is restored at night until the morning, from Saturday to Sunday, from 22:00 to 09:00. Bicycle lanes are also closed on arteries where cars no longer drive.

“Open Streets – Bucharest, City Promenade” is organized by the City Hall through the Department of Culture, Education, Tourism of the Municipality of Bucharest together with ARCUB and PROEDUS.
