He was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment with a three-year suspension of execution by the three-member Thessaloniki Criminal Court. 22-year-old girl arrested for leaving her four-month-old baby in the carin the parking lot of a department store to do some shopping.

The young woman was tried on her own initiative and found guilty of endangering a minor. In the same case, her 27-year-old friend and owner of the car was arrested, who was released on the prosecutor’s oral order.

In her apology, the 22-year-old admitted she was wrong and apologized. “I took it with me because I had nowhere to leave it. I left him because I breastfed all the way. The child is tired. When we arrived, he fell asleep. I went to get some things and will be back soon. There were a lot of people at the checkout, so I was late, ”the defendant, the mother of three minor children, said in an apology.

According to the case file, the incident occurred on Thursday afternoon (05.04) in eastern Thessaloniki, when the baby was left alone in the car for at least 40 minutes. “She was in a child seat, the car was locked and the window was half open. The baby woke up crying,” said an eyewitness who notified Immediate Action and Child Smile in her statement (which was read out in court).
