A married couple from Tirnavos and a 78-year-old man managed to get 335,000 euros from a 70-year-old man from Almiros for the alleged investment in medical and paramedical equipment, which, of course, the 70-year-old man had never seen and at some point, when he realized it was a scam, he reported it to the police.
According to ERT, the couple and the 78-year-old father of the couple, in whose account the money turned out to be, as well as the 70-year-old victim of fraud, were called to testify to the investigator. The couple were released on bail pending trial after testifying. Their father was also released without any restrictive conditions.
The fraud was organized in the summer of 2022 at the Larisa hospital, where a 70-year-old resident of Almiros was being treated, in the same room as the 78-year-old father of the couple. A couple who visited their father in conversations with a 70-year-old man convinced him to gradually give them money in order to invest in medical and paramedical equipment and earn enough money.
From time to time he was informed that his investments were going well. When he now gave the amount of 335,000 euros without receiving a single euro from his investment, he tried to contact the couple after a few months, but to no avail.
Then he realized that he had been deceived, and filed a complaint against them with the Police, as a result of which a criminal case was initiated.
