
The Kilkis Mixed Jury sentenced a 27-year-old man convicted of the violent death of a homeless man to 5 years and 4 months in prison and a €25,000 fine. dogin Koufalia, Thessaloniki, when he struck him repeatedly, while the unfortunate animal was also attacked by the defendant’s pit bull.
The defendant was found guilty by a narrow majority of, among other things, the murder of a pet, and the court decided to release him pending an appeal court, on the condition that he does not have a pet.
The brutal incident was caught on camera and reported by members of the animal welfare organization, who appeared in court in support of the prosecution. A criminal case was initiated against the young man, as a result of which the case reached the criminal courtroom.
In his apology, the 27-year-old denied the accusations, saying he was in self-defense and that his own dog was attacked by strays while he was walking it.
