A photo taken Wednesday by Getty Images shows a sheet of metal and a black stain from one of two explosions on the Kremlin grounds.
Early Wednesday morning, two drones exploded near the Senate dome — according to CNN, the first drone explosion happened right on top of the dome.
An obvious burn mark is visible in the same place as the explosion. Sheet metal left over from the drone explosion also appears to cover part of the dome.
Additional images obtained by AFP show people who appear to be inspecting the dome on a ladder near the apparent blast mark.
Getty archival images taken between September 2022 and March 2023 — in addition to a satellite image taken by Maxar Technologies on April 19 — confirm that there was no visible burn mark before the explosion.
