Relatives of the victims, who have started the creation of the Tempi-2023 Association of Road Traffic Victims, demand that those responsible for the tragedy in Tempi be punished.

In the afternoon, the relatives spoke about their goals and next steps at an event organized at the Ampelokipi Menemeni City Hall.

– Everyone who is responsible or criminally responsible for the accident should be held accountable and truly punished.

“Let’s never allow such a crime to happen again.”

“It was not negligence, it was a crime. The state could have done everything possible, it did nothing,” said, in particular, in her speech at the event, the president of the Association, Maria Caristianu, the mother of 20-year-old Marti, who died in an accident.

During today’s event, the treasurer of the Tempe 2023 association, Smaro Ekut, presented some of the proposals of the association and proposed to name the 57 people who died at the stations or on the trains, “to a new project, with modern trains, to be intertwined with the memory of the dead and indelible for those who use this mode of transport.

After that, Ms. Ekut stressed that the association will hold meetings with parties and agencies to commit to punish those responsible, as well as complete the state-of-the-art railway project.

Relatives of the victims are asking for the accident to be declared a criminal offense, for the railway to be stopped until the necessary work for safe traffic has been completed, and that the parliament, which will appear after the elections, begin to implement them urgently. They also ask that the names of their relatives be given to the railway stations. On May 6, the Association of Victims will hold a similar event in Larisa.
