Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Wednesday that Ukraine has not carried out any attack on Russian territory, let alone an attack on President Volodymyr Putin, Reuters reports.

“We are fighting on our territory, we are not attacking Moscow or Putin… We did not attack Putin, we leave this issue for consideration by the court,” Zelenskyy said.

At the same time, when asked why Russia accuses Ukraine of attacking the Kremlin, the Ukrainian president said that “Putin needs this to motivate his people, he has no victories.”

Russia on Wednesday accused Ukraine of a botched assassination attempt on President Vladimir Putin in a drone attack on the Kremlin and threatened to retaliate.

Kyiv has denied its involvement in any drone attack on the Kremlin and stressed that such actions would do nothing for Ukraine on the front line, and would only provoke Russia to take more radical measures.
