
More than 30 kilograms of cannabis and 724 cannabis plants were seized by the Narcotics Division of the Kalamata Security Sub-Directorate.
Two people were detained in the case and a criminal case was initiated against them on a criminal organization and violation of drug laws, in which one person also appears.
According to EL.AS., the organization is expected to profit from its criminal activities in the amount of 700,000 euros.
In order to eliminate the criminal organization on Tuesday morning (05.02) in the districts of Attica, by employees of the Prosecutor’s Office for Drugs of the Kalamata Security Sub-Directorate, with the assistance of the police of the Special Repressive Anti-Terrorist Unit (EKAM) and the Crime Prevention and Control Unit (OPKE) of Messinia.
As part of the operational-search activities, two citizens, aged 58 and 39, respectively, who are members of a criminal organization, were detained, against whom a criminal case was initiated on a criminal organization and violation of drug laws.
The case file also includes a 60-year-old citizen who is wanted.
In particular, after a long and thorough police investigation carried out by the Narcotics Division of the Kalamata Security Sub-Directorate, using relevant and cumulative evidence, as well as the results of natural and scientific methods, it turned out that the above, in at least the last six months, has been actively engaged in the cultivation of cannabis plants in the interiors of isolated and multi-level houses (villas), and then sold the quantities produced (such as “skunk”) to various regions of Attica.
As a thorough investigation showed, the organization had a hierarchical structure with constant actions and well-defined roles, and the 58-year-old arrested was its leading member.
In particular, the 58-year-old man, in addition to founding, managing and leading the organization, was the one who rented an isolated residence in the area of South East Attica and at the same time rented a second premises where, with the help of other members, these premises were appropriately configured as illegal indoor cannabis cultivation and harvesting laboratories with artificial heating, lighting and ventilation conditions.
In order to cover up their illegal activities and divert the attention of the prosecution authorities, participants in the criminal network used telephone connections declared not in their real data, but in the data of other persons or foreign citizens of third countries (“ghost faces”), while talking to each other they communicated in a predetermined coordination code.
In the course of a large-scale operation, parallel searches were carried out at the homes and other places of the detainees yesterday morning, during which the following were discovered and seized:
- In the two villas, two fully organized and properly set up indoor cannabis plant growing laboratories, in which 552 cannabis plants were grown, in an equal number of pots with soil, in three different stages of maturation, strong and healthy, up to 150 cm tall, approximately, as well as 172 collected cannabis plants, up to 150 cm high, approx.
- amount of cannabis, total weight 30,972.5 grams,
- amount of processed cannabis (chocolate type), total weight 56.8 grams,
- amount of hemp oil, total weight 84 milliliters,
- 2 cannabis cigarettes
- 5 accurate scales,
- 2 mobile phones,
- 1 vehicle as a means of committing criminal acts,
- the amount of 205 euros, as received from drug trafficking,
- equipment for growing hemp indoors (multigrids, timers, fans, powerful lamps, thermometers, hydrometers, etc.),
- bags for rooting and liquid fertilizers,
- electronic laminating machine for airtight packing quantity and
- manual metal heat press.
Finally, based on the actions of the members of the criminal organization, it is assumed that the expected profit that the organization will receive is estimated at 700,000 euros.
Those arrested will be prosecuted and a police investigation and preliminary investigation will be carried out by the Narcotics Division of the Kalamata Security Directorate.
