
Twenty-two people were arrested over three days (April 29 to May 1, 2023) by police officers in Mykonos, Rhodes, Milos and Folegandros as part of targeted police checks to combat illegal construction.
Separate criminal cases have been opened against those responsible for illegal construction work and hiring illegal foreigners, depending on the circumstances.

IN Mykonos, six people were arrested at noon on Monday (1/5). (4 foreigners and 2 nationals) because they were found to be doing oil painting work on arbitrary buildings in the hotel industry.
IN Rose, a citizen and a foreigner were detained on April 29 due to the fact that they were seen transporting and storing building materials on an arbitrary wooden platform in the coastal zone, at the same time it was established that a wooden walkway was being built in the same area. In addition, yesterday and the day before yesterday, two other citizens were arrested for running a medical supply store in the aforementioned area, which illegally occupied parts of the general coastal area, forest and archaeological area.
IN AppleOn April 29, eight people (7 foreigners and a citizen) were detained in connection with the fact that it was established that they were carrying out unauthorized construction work in an already existing underground building (wire drilling).
IN FolegandrosOn April 30, four people (3 citizens and a foreigner) were detained due to the fact that they were engaged in construction work in a building under construction without a permit.
Tools and vehicles used for illegal work were confiscated.
At the expense of foreigners who were found to be living and working illegally, the process of returning to their country was initiated. Competent services were informed about the revealed violations.
The detainees were taken to the local competent prosecutor’s offices.
