The Horse Welfare Association rescued a thirsty horse from death, which was left tied up on a slope by its owner. According to his post Panhellenic Horse Protection Association HIPPOTHESISwho filed the complaint, the horse hung exhausted on a hillside on the island, and passing tourists believed it was an accident.
The Association specifically stated:
“On Saturday, April 29, many drivers passing by, most of the tourists who came to civilized Greece on vacation, thought they were crazy. On a country road on the island of Kea or Gia, they saw a horse hanging from a slope. The poor people thought it was an accident. How can they imagine that an ugly animal, whose legs were tied together and which was tied to an olive tree on a slope, was looking for water and became exhausted, bent over and hung on the slope. Miraculously, nothing broke, or at least we think so, because he probably would have died there by hanging himself.
None of us can feel the pain, desperation and stress of hanging in exhaustion for hours, tied and pasteurized, without access to water and food.
Unfortunately, it is common knowledge that horses in Greece lived in the Middle Ages as animals of a lower god, and more recently, local authorities demanded the illegality of tying their legs together, i.e. continued grazing as a means of sustaining livestock production!! !
The tourists began to call for help, the owner got angry at those who interfered, cut the ropes on one side and started kicking her to get up. Our union has filed a complaint under current law for the final removal of the animal. Unless it comes from a donkey that doesn’t give a dime, any individual who sold it on the island and found out about it should report it because it will help us help him. Horses, animals of the lesser God and Gia 2023.
According to the information, the police department of Kea made an arrest on the evening of Sunday 30.04, the day after it became known about the incident. As stated in an information note from the Greek Police, “A 34-year-old man was arrested at 20:00 after a complaint emailed to the Keas police station around 16:11 by the Panhellenic Association. for the protection of horses “IPPOTEZ” by the method of bandaging the legs in the area of Plagia, with attached photographs.
