Alexandroupolis: pipeline system operator hit by high voltage

The driver of the vehicle, struck by a high voltage current, is intubated in critical condition and admitted to Alexandroupolis University Hospital.

This is a heavy-duty crane operator who, at 14:00, while working on the FSRU construction site in the Apalu-Alexandroupolis area, reversed the machine and hit high-voltage power lines.

His colleagues immediately rushed to the scene and dragged him unconscious from the cage. From there, he was picked up by an EKAV ambulance and taken to PGNA. Immediately after that, a fire broke out, completely destroying the car of a well-known crane company in the area.

The incident caused a power outage in almost half of Alexandroupolis, leaving hundreds of people trapped in elevators.
