China’s Xi Jianhui trailed Luca Bresel (world number 10) 14-5, but the Belgian staged an incredible comeback to reach the final of the World Snooker Championship at the Crucible, 17-15.

Luca Bresel is in the CM Snooker final after a sensational comeback against Xi Jiahui

In his first appearance at the Crucible, Jiahui (World No. 80) got off to a great start against Bressel (14-5 leader) and looked like he would qualify for final action without emotion.

After a sensational victory over Ronnie O’Sullivan (when he came back from 6-10 down to win 13-10), Bresel again showed incredible fighting spirit: he gradually closed the gap, took the lead (winning 12 frames in a row) and ended the match with a score of 17-15 .

In the other semi-final, Mark Selby (world number two) edged Mark Allen (3) 11-10. The fourth session starts at 21:00 and can be watched live on Eurosport.

How to play at the World Snooker Championship

  • In the semi-finals, the winner will be determined by the “best of 33 shots” system.
  • Finally, in the grand final, the winner will be determined by the “best of 35 frames”.

How it will be in the final

  • There will be 8 frames in the first session of the final. The second session will consist of 9 frames, the third will consist of 8 frames. Finally, the final session will have a maximum of 10 frames (may or may not all be played, depending on the score on the table).

Semi-Final: £100,000

Quarters: £50,000

Second round: £30,000

First round: £20,000.
