Earlier this week, US Ambassador to Russia Lynn Tracy told the Kommersant newspaper that Russia is the only country talking about the possible resumption of nuclear tests.

Kremlin spokesman Dmytro Peskov responded today: “Now everyone is observing the moratorium. [privind testarea armelor nucleare]. There is nothing more to say.”

In February, Vladimir Putin said that some in the US were considering dismantling the moratorium and that Russia should be ready to do the same.

He said, “If the U.S. tests, we will.”

“No one should have dangerous illusions that global strategic parity can be destroyed,” he said.

In February, Putin announced that Russia was suspending its participation in the NPT, the last remaining nuclear weapons treaty with the US, which limits the number of strategic warheads each side can deploy.
