“We pay tribute to those who fought and many times gave their lives for the rights of seafarers, as well as all the workers of the earth,” he emphasizes in his message on the occasion of the celebration Labor Day on Monday, May 1, its general secretary PNO Manolis Tsikalakis.

He points out that the naval collective fights every day for the problems of colleagues, advocating the process of collective bargaining, the abolition of laws on the reduced staffing of ships and their staffing, in order to protect human life at sea.

Mr. Tsikalakis says Labor Day this year is particularly marred by the ongoing war in Ukraine, with thousands of innocent victims, as well as the civil war that has been raging in Sudan over the past few days, our fellow exiled people, as well as other conflicts at various points planets.

It is noted that shipping unionson the occasion of the celebration of Labor Day, announced on Monday a 24-hour nationwide strike on all categories of courts.

Mobilization will begin at 00:01 am on Monday 1 May and end at 24:00 midnight on the same day.

The maritime unions will take part in the strike in Piraeus at 11 am, and patrol groups of sailors will be present in the ports of Attica and other ports of the country.
