
OUR PJ Harvey returns to the music scene. The British artist has announced the release of her 10th album titled “I’m inside a dying old year“.
This is a continuation of the 2016 “The Hope Six Demolition Project” recording. New work, which will be available for listening on July 7, 2023is “a place of rest, solace, balm – relevant to the times we live in,” according to the musician’s statement.
Recorded by her longtime collaborators and producers Flood and John Paris, the album is inspired by P.J. Harvey’s poem “The Eagles”. The disc includes improvisations featuring two producers. “I think these are concepts like the search, the power of first love and the meaning of life. Not that it has to be a message, but the feeling I get from this work is a feeling of love mixed with sadness and loss. This is the element that makes it so welcoming, so “open”.
The musician recently re-released her discography, including b-sides, demos and more. Last summer, she shared with fans her own version of Leonard Cohen’s “Who’s on Fire,” which was featured on an episode of Bad Sisters.
