The well-known British architectural firm Foster + Partners has presented a project for a terminal for air taxis that will connect the most popular points of the city. Dubai offering transport speed and no pollution.
The design of the so-called “vertiport” (a combination of the English words “vertical” and “airport”) was developed in collaboration with a leading air transport company and, according to Foster + Partners, has the approval of Mohammed bin Rashid. Al Maktoum, sheikh and leader of Dubai.
If the plan goes ahead, the terminal will be built next to the emirate’s international airport to integrate with existing transport hubs.

“We are excited to develop a vertiport scheme for the emerging advanced air traffic industry that will change the way people move around Dubai,” said David Summerfield, head of design at the UK-based company.
He added that this terminal will be connected to the airport and metro “to ensure seamless, sustainable urban travel for foreigners and locals“.
Plans published by Foster + Partners include a vertiport raised deck to facilitate the landing and takeoff of aircraft. OUR curved roof seems to rely on only one glass frame which offers an unobstructed view of the surrounding area for those waiting to depart.
