
A case of African swine fever was detected by the Directorate of the Veterinary Center of Athens in systematically bred domestic pigs at Livadia in the municipality of Sintiki, P.E. Serronas announced by the Ministry of Rural Development and Food.
By order of the competent Deputy Minister of Rural Development and Food Simos Kedikoglu, all competent HYPAAT veterinary services, local veterinary authorities of the Serres Regional Office have been activated, at the same time it is planned to take all necessary measures to control the disease in accordance with Community and national legislation.
– Activation of the National Center for Disease Control and the National African Swine Fever Task Force.
– Activation of the local disease control center to control the disease in the emergency. Serres, as provided for in Article 4 of the African Swine Fever Emergency Response Plan (Decision 260918/14.01.2009 Official Gazette B’ 75 of 22.01.2009).
– Delimitation of zones of protection and surveillance around the infected farm.
– Measures in the above areas.
– Measures in the contaminated farm.
– Measures in the regional subdivision of Serres.
– Conducting epidemiological studies.
It should be noted that African swine fever virus is not transmitted to humans and has no public health implications.
