Emma Reducanu ended her WTA Madrid career

Having injured her right hand, Emma withdrew before the first round match with Viktoria Tomova (73 WTA), the organizers of the “WTA 1000” competition reported.

After this decision, the Bulgarian sportswoman passes further qualifications and will meet with the leader of the world hierarchy, Iga Svyatek.

Redukanu refused to talk about her health at the press conference (she said 58 words in total), but in recent months she complained of pain in her wrist. The Brit spoke about these issues at the Miami Open.

“I just need to think after this tournament and figure out what the next steps will be. I got the problem under control. I can play in the short term, but the current solutions are not very viable in the long term,” said Emma Reducanu after her loss to Bianca Andreescu.
