Ukraine is preparing “priority measures” after the moment when Crimea is liberated, the Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in Crimea Tamila Tasheva said on Tuesday, Kyiv Independent reports.
“We have an assignment from the president to develop and prepare a plan of priority measures in Crimea, which will be implemented immediately after its separation. We have already received substantial answers from the state authorities,” Tasheva said.
According to her, after the liberation of Crimea, the return of Ukrainian state power will begin, starting with the military administration, before the transition to the military-civilian administration and then to “normal” everyday life.
The Crimean peninsula has been under Russian occupation since 2014, following a fake referendum organized by Russia to annex the territory.
Since then, many local residents were imprisoned for opposing the occupation, and Russian citizens flocked to the peninsula. The Russian military also established a military base there.
There are currently 180 political prisoners in occupied Crimea, Ukrainian officials say.
In mid-March, the Center of National Resistance of Ukraine also reported that Russia was intensifying mobilization efforts on the Crimean Peninsula.
