A man is sent to prison on a “revenge pornography” case after being convicted by a three-member Court of Criminal Appeals. Thessaloniki in prison for 6 years and 3 months.
His victim, according to the case file, was a woman who had an extramarital affair with him. When the defendant discovered that she was still in contact with her husband, he sent materials from their private moments to her minor children via a popular social network. This material allegedly got to the friends of the children, and was later “uploaded” to a pornographic site.
The case unfolded in 2016 in one of the regions of Central Macedonia. The defendant appeared in court on charges of identity theft and extortion, as he asked for the amount of 200 euros.
“I don’t know why I am in the dock,” said the 45-50-year-old defendant, explaining his act by drunkenness. Accepting the prosecution’s proposal, the judges found him guilty of both of the above acts and decided that the appeal should not amount to a stay of execution. As a result, he was sent to prison.
