On the fast clay in Stuttgart, serving played a significant role, and both athletes tried to avoid breaks as much as possible.

Iga and Arina waged a real “battle” for every palm of the field, decisive shots and advantageous angles were in demand.

In the first set, the difference was in the little things, Sabalenka surrendered her serve for the first time with a score of 4-3. Iga immediately took advantage, and the set went to the Pole with a score of 6-3.

The second set started poorly for Aryna: she had a moment of error in the very first game of the set, and in the rematch, Sviatek scored the difference.

The chase for Sabalenka began, but Iga proved to be inspired and morally strong at the most difficult moment: she saved a break point at 2:1 in her favor.

The serve went back to back, and the world leader won the set 6-4. The final in Stuttgart lasted one hour and 50 minutes.

In fact, the 2023 final was a repeat of last year’s. In 2022, Iga prevailed quite clearly with a score of 6-2, 6-2.

After Sunday’s final, Iga leads head-to-head matches with Sabalenka 5-2. Arine’s last success was recorded in the semifinals of the 2022 Tournament of Champions with a score of 6-2, 2-6, 6-1.
