Metro Line 4: 15 modern stations and line innovations

The construction of the 4th metro line, a project of key importance, will give “breath” to the acute transport problem, as it will serve about 350,000 citizens daily, 53,000 cars will be taken off the roads, and the distance between Galatsi and Goudi will be covered in 17 minutes.

In the following days, “Athena” – TBM begins its underground journey into the bowels of the city from the intersection of Mesogeion and Katehaki streets, opening the way to the center of the capital (Rizari Park). His route will first start from the eastern suburbs, Gudi, Zografou, Kaisariani, and then meet in the Evangelismos area with “Niki” – TBM. Niki’s underground journey, which is expected to start within a few months, will start from the construction site of Alsos Veikou in Galati, and then follow the route to Kipseli, Gyzi, Alexandras, Exarchia and go to the center. Both Metropolitan “Athena” and “Niki” must leave the Evangelismos area when each of them completes the opening of the 12.8-kilometer tunnel. The construction project was implemented under the AVAX-GHELLA-ALSTOM scheme, the completion of which is scheduled for 2029.

Giorgos Karagiannis: After 29 years, a new metro line is being built in Athens

“A new metro line is being built in Athens after 29 years. Line 4 is a project of great importance in the city that struggles with traffic on a daily basis and it took a lot of perseverance and work to bring it to fruition.
