When I saw myself on Telegram

“I’m getting a spam message from someone I don’t know on Instagram saying ‘I found your profile here via Telegram.’ Find out.” And I answer: “Which Telegram? I don’t have a profile there.

Somehow, in early April, I started for A.G. (her data is at the disposal of “K”) a dystopian experience that turned out to be one Tessa of the big scandal. A week later, it was revealed that women from all over Greece had seen their photos sold illegally through this particular app.

Logging into Telegram, the 20-year-old discovered a fake profile with her name and personal photo, which she believed had been stolen from her Instagram account. “It had my name on it and the word “naked” next to it.. The description said: “I send unpublished photos of her from a reputable source.“. I created my own account and sent him a message asking him to upload a profile. Then he told me that he had pictures of my ex. he threatened me that he will send them. But I knew that I didn’t give such photos anywhere, so it couldn’t be that he had something like that, ”he says, referring exclusively to“ K ”.

According to her, the attacker asked her to send him a video in which she appeared before her to verify her identity, while he tried to make a video call with her, systematically stalking her, even at night. The woman didn’t send him anything. She herself does not know the motive of the criminal, whether there was a financial benefit from this or whether he wanted to intimidate her. “I thought, why would anyone do this to me? I told him that this was wrong and that I would take him to the police. He replied that it was not personal and that he had a group with thousands of people who exchanged photos. He sent me a screenshot that actually had several women in it and said, “you are here too“”. The perpetrator never answered her questions about how he found her or if he is someone she knows. When she saw that she was not deleting the account, she connected her partner, who sent an audio message to the attacker, and he deleted everything.

Unfortunately, as she notes, with the removal, all evidence of conversations was lost, which the girl was ready to use to officially report the incident to the authorities.

As he usually says, he did not fall from the clouds from what happened. “When I was in high school, the boys exchanged pictures. I live in a village, society is closed. If a girl sent them a photo, they shared it. Many women have suffered from this, ”she emphasizes, admitting, however, that this particular case took on completely different proportions.
