Michalis (Michel) Dimopoulos studied cinema in France and began his career as a film critic with Avgi and Synchronos Kinematografos magazine in the 70s.

He became artistic director of the Thessaloniki Film Festival (1992-2004), which he, together with Dimitris Epidis, managed to make international with significant pretensions. He has also collaborated with Greek and foreign film organizations in the context of organizing tributes to the creators of the 7th art.

He edited selections of films on ERT as foreign program manager (from 1982 to 1991), always on the lookout for different filmmakers from all over the world, with a sophisticated eye of critics and a persistent film buff, a deep connoisseur of cinema. cinema. He has also edited tributes for Greek cinema abroad and was one of the founding members of the LUX Awards of the European Parliament.
