Six books from 6 countries on 4 continents were shortlisted. They are: “Boulder” by Eva Balthazar translated by Julia Sanchez, “The Whale” by Keon Myung-Kwan translated by Chi-Jung Kim, “Gospel of the New World” by Marise Conde translated by Richard Philcox, “Heavy Standing” by Gaz (GauZ’) in translated by Frank Will, “Time Shelter” by Georgy Gospodinov translated by Angela Rodel and “Still Born” by Guadalupe Netel translated by Rosalind Harvey.
International Booker Prize top book award fiction translated into English and published in the UK or Ireland. The winner’s prize of £50,000 is split equally between the author and the translator in recognition of their contributions to the great literature goes beyond the original language. The winner will be announced at a ceremony at London’s Sky Garden on Tuesday 23 May.
