The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, who visited the front line on Tuesday, on his way to Advivka, a city under siege by Russian troops, addressed Ukrainians in the evening, informing them that he was in Poltava, the capital of the region of the same name. central Ukraine, from where he spoke by phone with the leader of the Republicans in the House of Representatives, Kevin McCarthy.

“It is important not to lose a single day in communication with our partners. And it was from here, from Poltava, that I spoke with Kevin McCarthy, the president of the House of Representatives of the US Congress,” explained Volodymyr Zelenskyy, News.ro reports.

“I thanked him for his continued bipartisan support. Having just returned from a business trip to the front, I briefed Mr. McCarthy on what was happening at the front, on our defense needs and capabilities. We raised the issue of the F-16, long-range weapons, additional artillery and a tribunal – a tribunal to consider Russia’s aggression against our country,” the Ukrainian leader summarized Kyiv’s demands to Washington, especially in matters of arms.

“Together we make the free world stronger, and every dollar invested in this force is completely understandable and makes us responsible to our partners,” said Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who a little earlier assured the American leader, according to the president’s statement, that Ukraine can count every dollar of US aid.

“Thank you Donetsk and Poltava regions for today!”

Zelenskyi told Ukrainians that he was ending a rather long and emotional day in Poltava.

“In the morning I was in the Donetsk region, in our Avdiivka. It’s hard to see what Russian terrorists have done in this city… And I pay tribute to each of our soldiers, to all Ukrainians, who for 419 days and nine years held in place and gradually destroyed this Russian evil,” Zelensky said that most of his night speech devoted to nominations and thanks to those who contribute to the war.

“I had the honor to congratulate Ukrainian soldiers and officers on Easter and present them with awards. (…) Thank you all for your services! (…) I would like to especially thank our medical forces, all the doctors, nurses and comrades who bring our defenders back to life after being wounded. I have been to hospitals in the Donetsk region and here in Poltava. I am proud of our people who are strong even when they are still recovering. Honor and respect to all who treat our soldiers!” – said Zelensky, encouraging his compatriots.

He said that he had a long meeting in Poltava to familiarize himself with the situation in the region. “In the first place – security and social issues, security for educational institutions, reconstruction and insurance of displaced persons. There are solutions for the restoration of energy – generation and networks. There are various assignments at the working level regarding the support of the Poltava region. And we will definitely do it,” Zelensky said.

“It is really very inspiring and encouraging to see the determination of our Ukrainians and to know that we will win. Thanks to Donetsk and Poltava regions for today! Thank you to everyone who works for our victory! Glory to each of you who are now in battle, at combat posts, on combat missions! And today I want to remember those of our soldiers who identify and destroy enemy positions, those positions from which the occupier bombards our cities and villages. Russian attacks on Kherson, on Beryslavsky district, on the cities of Donetsk region – our response will be to all attacks of the enemy. A tangible answer,” the Ukrainian president promised at the end of his speech.
