An incredible incident, fortunately without tragic consequences, happened in a village in Achaia, when a woman accidentally drank turpentine instead of water.
According to ERT, it all happened on Good Friday, when a 65-year-old man went to the village cemetery to clean his family grave. While working, he mixed up a bottle of water with turpentine and began to drink.
When she realized her mistake, she developed symptoms of being burned by a corrosive liquid and called for help. She was immediately taken by her fellow villagers to the Lower Achaia Medical Center and from there, after receiving first aid, she was taken to the University Hospital of Patras in Rio.
There he underwent a gastric lavage, he was intubated and transferred to the intensive care unit for treatment. Immediate transfer to a polyclinic and hospital, as well as the intervention of doctors and medical staff, saved her life.
On Easter Sunday, he was discharged from the intensive care unit, and now he is in the ward of the clinic, where he is undergoing treatment.
