Some 200 Apple fans hoping to be among the lucky few to enter the tech giant’s first retail store in India have gathered outside the Mumbai store since Tuesday morning.
Fans of the brand traveled from across India to catch a glimpse of Apple CEO Tim Cook, who will open a 2,600-square-meter store on the same day.
“The atmosphere here is just different,” said An Shah, 23, who traveled from the western industrial city of Ahmedabad.
“It’s not like buying from a ‘classic’ store. There is no comparison. It’s so exciting,” he said. In fact, his love for Apple is so great that he traveled to New York and Boston to attend store openings.
It is noted that Apple previously faced obstacles in opening brick-and-mortar retail stores in the South Asian country, but its products were available on e-commerce sites and its online store opened in 2020.
