He notes that the representatives of the Commission are coming to Romania at the suggestion of MEP Lorant Vince.
“One of the purposes of the documentary visit is to investigate a petition by which the leaders of the county councils of Harghita, Covasna, Mures and Brasov drew the attention of decision-makers in Brussels to the problems caused by the brown bear population in Romania. “, he wrote.

According to him, work is underway at the national level to implement a complex set of measures to manage the bear population.
“We have regulated immediate intervention in case of emergencies, we help the population in the purchase of electric fences and we have conducted a population assessment study, on the basis of which we introduce prevention quotas focused on risk zones. And these measures will be presented to the commission during the visit,” the minister added.
