
The return of excursions to Athens from the Easter holidays seems to be gradual, the weather shows a relative improvement after the morning rains, in places.
At the moment, traffic at the two entrances to Athens, from the Athens-Lamia and Athens-Korinth highways, is carried out without significant problems, with a steady flow.
The blockage occurs for only a few kilometers on the Athena-Lamia side shortly after the Afidne toll road, on the Athena-Korinth side in the Megara region, and less in Mandre.
The number of vehicles is expected to increase in the afternoon.
Traffic measures in place: Trucks over 3.5 tons are prohibited from driving on national roads until 10:00 pm on Easter Monday. The measure will also apply on Easter Tuesday, but from 11:00 to 23:00.
Over 22,000 violations per week
A total of 22,896 violations were confirmed during 105,448 traffic inspections carried out from 9 to 15 April throughout Greece, according to data from the Ministry of Citizens’ Protection. 67% of offenses involve speeding, illegal parking, not wearing a crash helmet, not having a driver’s license, and not wearing a seatbelt.
In particular, violations confirmed by region: 3,307 in Thessaloniki, 3,276 in Attica, 2,531 in Thessaly, 2,362 in Crete, 2,073 in Western Greece, 1,697 in Central Macedonia, 1,411 in Central Greece, 1,399 in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, 1,382 in Epirus, 1,254 in the Peloponnese, 723 in the North Aegean, 566 in the Ionian Islands, 479 in the South Aegean, and 436 in Western Macedonia.
In particular, violations were confirmed: 6,997 for illegal parking, 5,784 for speeding, 1,180 for driving without a driver’s license, 786 for not using a seat belt, 558 for not using a safety helmet, 522 for drunk driving, 459 for drunk driving form. TTEC, 322 for uninsured cars, 264 for using a mobile phone, 198 for traffic light violations, 193 for driving towards traffic, 162 for illegal maneuvers, 131 for illegal overtaking, 114 for worn tires, 107 for not following traffic rules. safe distance, 97 for noise, 53 for oncoming traffic on a one-way street, 42 for priority violation, 40 for oversize cargo, 36 for exhaust fumes, 31 for misuse of lights, 24 for driver distraction, 24 for traffic violations traffic, 18 for not using child seats, 17 for driving on the right side of the road, 12 for driving in the left lane, 3 for not wearing a seat belt, and 4,722 other violations.
