American Colin Davis McCarthy, 38, threw $200,000 (€180,000) out of a car window on a highway in Oregon, with many motorists stopping and collecting $100 bills, creating chaos, ABC News reported.

Police warned him not to scatter the money as it posed a potential danger to other drivers. McCarthy agreed, but not before dropping thousands of dollars, according to law enforcement estimates.

“Authorities are urging the public not to look for money on the highway as it is very dangerous,” police spokesman Capt. Kyle Kennedy wrote.

McCarthy told police he was doing well financially and wanted to “bless others” with the money, Kennedy said.

McCarthy could not be reached for comment. “I understand the money was withdrawn from personal accounts,” Kennedy said

McCarthy is currently facing no charges, according to Kennedy.o.

The American’s family asked everyone who handles his money to hand it over to the police.
