Pantelis Chandris creates an artistic universe in Citronne

What happens when a charismatic sculptor, a restless art critic, and an active gallery come together? This proves that we can see in Athens a beautiful exhibition, in fact, a demonstration of how everything is done with perfection and passion. The reason for the solo exhibition of Pantelis Chandri (1963) at the Citron Art Gallery in Kolonaki, which was recently opened when hundreds of people visited the beautiful apartment of Patriarch Joachim in Kolonaki, where the Athens branch of Citron is located. The name of the exhibition is Orbital Objects, i.e. objects in orbit. Chandris creates his own universe of sculptures, revolving around the central work, which is a white, frozen, motionless flame.

Its goal is to create a visual planetary world with sculptures as well as painted objects that provoke the viewer’s eye, as well as reflections on the present, future and past. The touching element in this artist is his courage to experiment and evolve. Known from a very early age for his anthropomorphic and animalistic sculptures, he was able to consistently reproduce this fortunate unity. But he is always on the lookout and therefore does not hesitate to change, to follow other paths, while maintaining internal consistency. Through his work, he also pays tribute to the artists he loves, but also opens up new forms of self-expression.

Christoforos Marinos, born in 1975, who signs the text of the catalog, is probably the most creative curator of his generation. He has gained recognition for his strong theoretical background as well as his ability to organize beautiful exhibitions. From Lawn Rouge to the Gallery of the Municipality of Athens, he has gone through his own journey of discovery and maturation, and his choices are always of particular interest. Dr. Tatiana Spinari-Pollali also played a role in the development of fine arts. He started with an art gallery on Poros in 2006, where every summer he presented beautiful individual or group works, and he also collaborates with the island’s archaeological museum to also show contemporary art in conversation with ancient ruins. At the same time, in 2018, she opened a gallery in the center of Athens to continue her activities during the winter months. The Chandris exhibition runs until June 24 and is well worth seeing.
