
Today, Maundy Thursday, April 13, shops and supermarkets will be open according to the Easter opening hours suggested by the local trade associations.
In particular, according to the Athens Chamber of Commerce, the opening hours of commercial shops in Athens, which are valid and will last until Good Saturday, are as follows:
- Mon Thursday 04/13/2023 09:00 – 21:00
- Mon Friday 04/14/2023 13:00 – 19:00
- Mon Saturday 04/15/2023 09:00 – 15:00
- Easter 16.04.2023 Holiday
- Monday, 04/17/2023 Day off
Accordingly, the Easter holidays hours announced by Thessaloniki Chamber of Commerce are:
- M. Thursday 13.04.2023 10:00 – 21:00
- Mon Friday 04/14/2023 13:00 – 19:00
- Mon Saturday 15.04.2023 10:00 – 14:00
- Easter 16.04.2023 Holiday
- Monday, 04/17/2023 Day off
Clarifications regarding the Easter holidays are provided to employees by the General Confederation of Greek Workers (GSEE). In particular, as stated in the related announcement, Good Friday (04/14/2023) is a mandatory part-time for commercial establishments.
According to the law, the hiring of employees and the opening of shops until 13:00 on Good Friday is prohibited.
For other businesses, Good Friday is not included as a statutory holiday for private sector employees.
However, private business in our country is late in the event that Good Friday is defined as a day off or a semi-holiday in accordance with the provisions of the Collective Labor Agreement (KTD), the rules of the enterprise’s work schedule, business habits and customs, during which the business remains closed on this day .
Good Saturday (04/15/2023) is a working day for employees legally employed on Saturday in the private sector, unless a holiday or part-time work is established by the regulation of the SES, the labor regulations of the enterprise, the business habit and custom by which business is on this day remains closed.
On Easter Sunday (04/16/2023), the general rule of the Sunday holiday applies, i.e. no hiring of employees is allowed.
Easter Monday (04/17/2023) is an official holiday for all businesses.
