Region Attica, in cooperation with the Special Association of Cross Graduates of the Prefecture of Atticas (EDSNA) continues to be a trailblazer with a comprehensive outreach and education program for students on recycling called “Recycling Championship“.

This innovative action is part of an awareness campaign launched in March 2022. at the initiative of the regional governor of Attica, Giorgos Patouliswith a central message”Appreciate your trash“.

It was originally implemented in 70 elementary schools region of Attica under the auspices of the Attica Regional Directorate of Primary Education.

The priority of the Attica region is to contribute through this program to the gradual development of ecological consciousness and also in education O best practices for disposal students, teachers and parents.

Schools are being asked to recycle three material streams in school departments: paper, plastic and aluminium.

In order to better engage students in the recycling process, the Attica region, in collaboration with EDSNA, has begun placing special waste bins in the classrooms/corridors of the school units.

Recycled materials collected in the trash cans of each school are collected and after weighing, their quantity is registered online at the email address, www.recycleatticaschools.grwhich is available to every citizen – site visitor.

Judging from the effectiveness of the efforts so far, it seems that the students are actively participating in the program, refining and claiming to be the new “green” champions of the country every day.

At the end of the action, the final results will be published and made public in relation to the performance of each school in relation to the total number of materials recycled per student.

All schools, regardless of rank, will be rewarded for participating in the promotion, and the top-performing schools will receive additional and significant prizes.

The primary school students of Attica show us how we should follow how we should manage the waste we produce.

So we also give meaning to our trash every day, following the example of our little “big” champions.
