Tempe: Three incumbent stationmasters testify to tragedy

With statements from three acting station chiefs in Larisa, an investigation is underway that is expected to shed light on those responsible for the deaths of 57 people in the tragic February 28 train accident.

The three witnesses are believed to be well aware of how the railroad operated prior to the February 28 accident. One of them acts as the head of the inspectorate, after the pre-trial detention of the head of the inspectorate, who was in charge of the personnel of the Larisa station during the accident.

Of the other two testifying, one is a stationmaster who previously worked the evening shift before the stationmaster took office on the fateful night, and the other is a stationmaster working at Larisa station.

According to ERT, witnesses are expected to shed light on the case using their knowledge and experience. At the same time, experts continue to work on the circumstances of the accident, and their conclusion is expected by the end of the month.

The following week, a lawyer for the families of the victims, Mr. Apostolidis, was called to testify and exposed a ransom attempt by the families of the victims by Hellenic Train.
