13 Disability Benefits That Increase May 1st

Filed today at parliament an amendment that increases by 8% from May 1, 2023, a total of 13 disability benefits, according to a recent announcement by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

With the same amendment, paid leave for gynecological examinations is extended to the private sector.

In particular, as stated in the message of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, with the introduction of the rules:

– 10 disability benefits of the Organization for Social Security and Solidarity (OPEKA) and three e-EFKA benefits are increased by 8% from May 1, 2023, namely:

A) Paid by e-EFKA

1) General disability allowance for pensioners of the former regional state administration receiving only the basic pension of the former regional state administration, if they have a lifelong disability in the amount of 100%, paragraph 2 of Art. 4 P.D. 334/1988 (A’154).

2) Sickness and disability benefits of state pensioners, Article 54 P.D. 169/2007 (A’210).

3) Non-institutional allowance e-EFKA article 42 of Law 1140/1981 (A’68).

B) Paid CUSTODY:

1) Travel allowance.

2) Nutrition allowance for kidney patients, heart recipients, liver recipients, etc.

3) Financial support for people with severe disabilities.

4) Financial support for people with severe mental retardation.

5) Financial support for paralyzed, paralyzed and amputees – uninsured and state insured.

6) Financial support for people with congenital hemolytic anemia (Mediterranean – sickle cell – microsickle cell, etc.) or congenital hemorrhagic predisposition (hemophilia, etc.), acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS).

7) Financial support for deaf and hard of hearing people.

8) Financial support for the visually impaired.

9) Financial support for people with cerebral palsy.

10) Material support for sick and recovered patients with leprosy and members of their families.

The main provisions of the amendment, the responsibility of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, provide for the following:

  • The permit, which is already in place for the public sector, for gynecological examinations (one paid day per year) is also being established for women working in the private sector. This regulation aims to support women workers in the private sector by facilitating the necessary medical examinations while respecting the principle of equal treatment of workers in the public and private sectors.
  • The uninterrupted operation of structures and services to promote gender equality and support women affected by gender and domestic violence and / or multiple discrimination is ensured by maintaining the salaries of employees in them with the NSFR for 2021-2027. These services include, but are not limited to, the SOS 15900 telephone line, counseling centers and hostels of the General Secretariat for Demographic and Family Policy and Gender Equality Network of the Ministry of Labor, and the GGDOPIF Gender Equality Observatory.
