President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi on Sunday evening, when Orthodox Christians celebrate Flowers and Roman Catholics Easter, said that faith is also needed to defeat the Russian aggressor, because every holiday shows that evil wins, and this faith must be preserved.
In contrast to the bright moment of these holidays, Zelensky staged a nighttime shelling in Zaporizhzhia, where two people, a father and his daughter, died after their home was hit by a Russian S-300 missile.
“Last night, the Russian army bombarded Zaporozhye with S-300 missiles. They got into a house, an apartment building. There were three people inside. A man, a woman and a child – a girl, her name was Iryna, she would have turned 11 this year. He died. The man also died. My condolences. The woman is in serious condition, in the hospital, she is being treated. This is how the terrorist state spends Palm Sunday. In this way, Russia isolates itself even more from the world, from humanity,” the Ukrainian president emphasized, News.ro reports.
“Each bright Christian holiday teaches us that we may not be able to, but we must be sure that evil will lose. We must believe. And we believe. We must bring victory over evil closer. And we are bringing it closer,” Zelensky assured.
He told Ukrainians that they are not alone. “And the world is with us. With each month, with each week, support grows, the circle of those who support us, who support our courage and faith in life increases. I thank all those in the world who are now with Ukraine, who are with us,” said the Kyivan.
“We are preparing for a new active week, especially in our international activities, to strengthen the defense, to strengthen our fighters,” Zelensky said before the rest of his message became an overview, accompanied by thanks and gratitude, of all those who “reject the Russian evil and destroy the occupiers – in battle and behind them.”
“I thank all our people who eliminate the consequences of the Russian bombings and help victims of terror. In Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv Oblast, Chernihiv Oblast, Sumy Oblast, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, Kherson Oblast, Donbas,” Zelenskyy said, referring to the frontline regions or nearby.
“I am grateful to every rescuer and doctor, every nurse, every scientific worker, every policeman… All representatives of local authorities in cities and villages who help people. And volunteers. And, of course, I want to thank the soldiers! To everyone who is currently in the struggle,” the Ukrainian president emphasized.
“According to the results of this week, I would like to especially mention the marines of the 35th and 36th separate brigades, the fighters of the 55th artillery brigade. They are fighting in the Donetsk region. Effectively. Thanks, guys!” Zelenskyi said.
He mentioned Bakhmut again, showing that Ukrainian fighters are still standing against the enemy, continue to resist and even go on the offensive. “I thank the soldiers of the 783rd Airborne Assault Company, the soldiers of the 5th Airborne Assault Brigade and the 80th Airborne Assault Brigade for active assault actions in Bakhmut and in the Bakhmut direction… Good. done guys!” – the president sent.
Zelenskyi also named two more directions on which Ukrainian troops carried out assault actions: “Slavic direction – mechanized brigade No. 1. 30, also active assault operations. Thanks guys! I thank the fighters of the 66th Mechanized Brigade and the 95th Airborne Assault Brigade for the resilience and courage they showed in the Lyman direction,” he said.
The Ukrainian leader did not forget about “reconnaissance units that fight on the hottest areas of the front.”
“Border guards of the Luhansk and Kramatorsk detachments, consolidated units of the Lviv, Donetsk, Mogilev-Podilskyi and Bilhorod-Dniester detachments… Thank you guys!
Special Forces, 50th Regiment of the National Guard… Thank you!” Zelenskyi continued.
“The Zaporozhye administration – I will say separately about the fighters of the 39th anti-aircraft missile regiment. Well done guys! Accuracy is key. And thank you to all the fighters of the Air Defense Forces and the Air Force, who confidently protect our skies!” – said the Ukrainian leader.
All these directions on the front line were mentioned in conditions where there are high expectations that Ukraine will soon go on a counteroffensive against Russian troops.
“May next year’s Palm Sunday pass in peace and freedom for all our people! May sincere prayers be heard for the peace of all who celebrate Easter today!” Volodymyr Zelenskyy concluded his address to the people on the day of the great religious holiday with these wishes.
