IGSU spokesperson Marin Adrian gave some recommendations to avoid unwanted events this weekend:

  • at home, candles and lighted candles are placed in non-flammable stands, away from curtains, wooden materials or household appliances, for example, in a plate with a small amount of water;
  • under no circumstances should candles or lighted candles be left unattended, and candles must be extinguished during sleep;
  • do not leave lit candles or other sources of fire within the reach of children; it is necessary to pay more attention to the elderly and other vulnerable categories on how to use lighted candles or candles to avoid situations in which life or property may be endangered.

In order to avoid incidents during religious services, the fire department advises priests and parishioners to take the following measures:

  • candles or candles should not be placed near clothing or other fabrics to prevent clothing or hair from igniting;
  • avoid driving vehicles with lit candles;
  • parking cars near places of worship without blocking driveways intended for fire trucks.

During the Catholic Easter and Orthodox Easter holidays, more than 5,000 firefighters will be on duty every day.

The IGSU said fire brigades, which include almost 3,800 equipment, are ready to intervene to provide emergency medical care, extinguish fires and rescue people from life-threatening environments.

Response to emergency situations is provided by more than 500 brigades of SMURD, of which 322 brigades are staffed by paramedics of the fire department, 40 mobile intensive care units (11 specialized for the treatment of newborns), 42 special cars for personal transport and reusable ones. victims, as well as 120 special vehicles for release.

On the preventive line, firefighters will conduct verification measures in places of worship, where a large influx of participants is expected, as well as in buildings intended for housing people on the territory of monasteries. Such measures will also be held in tourist units or at objects that carry out economic activities in tourist zones.

During inspections, prevention inspectors will monitor issues of fire extinguishers, maintenance of free evacuation routes, safe operation of electrical installations and access of emergency vehicles to church buildings and external hydrants.
