The delegation of the Russian Football Federation voted at the UEFA Congress (which was held in Lisbon), despite the sanctions adopted at the international level after the start of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, reports CNN.

UEFA states that the ban also does not apply to the Russian Football Federation

“Yes, a delegation from the Russian Federation was present at the UEFA Congress in Lisbon and took part in the voting,” said a UEFA representative, clarifying that each UEFA member federation has one vote.

Last year in February, UEFA and FIFA announced the suspension of all Russian national and club teams from international competitions until further notice.

“According to the decision of the UEFA Executive Committee, the ban applies to the national and club teams and not to the federation,” UEFA said after the congress on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, the president of the Continental Forum, Alexander Ceferin, said that it will be difficult to change anything regarding the exclusion of Russian teams from international competitions before the end of the war in Ukraine, News.ro reports.
