Woman I survived a rare form of cancer spayed to survive, she gave birth to a child, a “miracle baby” as she describes it.

In 2017, Stacey Broadmintow of Stockport, UK was diagnosed with pseudomyxoma peritoneum (PMP), a rare, one in a million cancer.

The 38-year-old woman managed to give birth to her biological child, son Harry, after having her eggs frozen between surgeries.

However, the first IVF ended in a miscarriage, and the 38-year-old woman, with only two embryos suitable for the IVF procedure, was left with only hope for her last and only fertilized egg.

Therefore, she called Harry in an interview with SkyNews “a miracle child.”

“Harry actually saved my life too, because if I didn’t have such a desire to have him, I probably wouldn’t be here today. So he is very special. It turned everything in my life. Fully. Now my life is worth it,” she says.

“Is there something wrong”

Calvary began in 2017, after acute pain in the appendix area.

Broadmindow, having ruled out pregnancy, began more specialized and intensive tests.

Doctors soon discovered fluid in her uterus and after further tests at the most advanced cancer treatment center in Manchester, her oncologist told her that she had PMP and was likely to have surgery to remove her ovaries.

“i was devastated. Fully. I literally thought, okay, that’s it. I will never be a mother. I will never fulfill the dream of my life,” she recalls.

During the first operation, which lasted eight hours, her spleen, gallbladder, fallopian tubes and both ovaries were removed. He needed chemotherapy as well as a second operation. Meanwhile, however, it became possible to collect and cryopreservation of eggs.

“I was very lucky because between the two surgeries I was able to undergo the NHS procedure and freeze 17 eggs, for which I am very grateful,” she says.

“Absolute Miracle”

In 2021, having overcome the adventure, she began the process of having a baby.

However, out of 17 eggs collected, only eight are usable. And of these eight, only 2 managed to fertilize..

The first IV failed. “I thought that the dream was over and that I could never have a child. However, I said okay, I have one more chance, let’s try. But I was warned that this fruit is not the strongest.”

Against all odds, Stacey got pregnant and welcomed Harry into her life last November.

“It was an absolute miracle. Every time I looked at him, I thought how lucky I am. I call him little Nemo. Just like in the movie, Nemo was the last egg. So, he’s my little Nemo. My little miracle.”
